She was born Jan. 10, 1935, to Raymond and Marcelle (Scogin) Burns.
After graduation from WM Chrisman High School in 1952, she eloped with Jack T.M. Hamm, July 26, 1952. They were happily married 51 ½ years, when he unexpectedly passed away in Dec. 2003.
She is survived by three children: Son, Bobby Hamm, SR., daughters; DeNelta (Doug) Reynolds, Marlena (Darrel) Wickens;
brother; Ronald L. Burns, 7 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Raymond D. Burns, a daughter-in-law Barbara Johnson and a grandson Anthony M. Hamm
Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept 5, 6-8pm at Newcomers Noland Road Chapel, Independence. Funeral Services will be Wed. Sept 6 at 12 p.m., at Newcomers with Rev. Mike Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Longview Cemetery, Raytown Rd.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Ridge Crest Nursing Center and contributions may be left in care of the funeral home.
