

Bennie attended and graduated Duncan High School, Duncan, Oklahoma. He was named as a Timothy by the Duncan Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) as he entered religious studies. After high school, Bennie attended Phillips University and Phillips Seminary in Enid, Oklahoma, where he earned his Master’s in Divinity. While at Phillips, Bennie shared his musical talent in many ways. His favorite was singing with the men’s quartet. He also enjoyed being the pitcher for the men’s baseball team. While at Phillips, Bennie met Karen Jane Smith through their shared musical interests and talents. On August 23, 1959, they married and were together until his passing.
Bennie was Ordained as a Pastor by the Duncan Christian Church in December of 1962. He served as Pastor in many churches for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Throughout his career he served in Oklahoma, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri and Illinois. He trained and served as an intentional interim specialist for The Christian Church of Mid-America (Disciples of Christ) for 24 years. In those 24 years he served in 19 different positions.
In his free time Bennie loved to fish and camp. His children have many fond memories of vacations and fishing with their dad. Bennie also loved singing and participated in numerous choirs and ensembles with the church and community. More recently, Bennie enjoyed socializing with his friends and fellow residents at Foxwood Springs Living Center. Mostly enjoying Bingo and the children playing outside his room at the Landis Day Care.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers E.C. and Vernon Yount.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Karen.
