Carl Lee Ewing, age 69, of Independence, passed away Feb. 8th, after a lengthy Illness. He was born January 8, 1947 in Clinton, MO to Glen and Geraldine (Hodges) Ewing. He was raised in Holden, MO and graduated from Brandon High School in Brandon, WI in 1965. He later trained as an auto mechanic which led to his lifelong love of stock car racing. He worked at Mobil-Teria Catering Co, in Kansas City from 1967 to 2002. He retired from that company. During retirement, he spent most of his time repairing and building cars and trucks. His main love was dirt track racing at Lakeside Speedway culminating in being the Champion Mechanic/Driver in the 2000 racing season. He continued to participate at Lakeside until 2004. He was a member of Metropolitan Community Church - Spirit of Hope and a long time member of Moose Lodge #10 of Sugar Creek. Preceded in death by his mother and step-dad Ted Clemens, and his father. Carl was a very caring person and will be missed by family and friends. Memorial Services will be Sat. Feb. 13, 2016, 11:00am at Newcomer’s Noland Road Chapel 509 S. Noland Rd.
