Daniel Lee Phinney

He was born September 5, 1984, in Kansas City, Missouri to Troy Phinney and Molly Magness. He graduated from a Military Program in 2002 and began working as a dental technician for his father. He got into concrete work, then going on to Louisiana during Hurricane Katrina to help with the clean up by trimming trees. He ended up back in Kansas City and joined the Laborer’s Union Local 264,he was known to be the hardest worker on the crew and this is where he spent the rest of his career.

Daniel met Renee McGinness is 2007, they had two beautiful daughters together, Ginger and Leia Phinney. He loved to play with them, and they loved to be with their dad. He was a caring, kind-hearted, ornery soul who wore his heart on his sleeve.

Daniel was a loving son, brother, father and friend. He was very outgoing and got along well with others. He had an energetic and fun spirit and loved any excuse to have a celebration and have a good laugh. You knew when he arrived because he lit up the room with his smile and fun personality. He loved to cook and always made everyone feel welcome. He was a caregiver and having two daughters and four sisters made him even more protective. He wanted what was best for them; he was their protector!

Daniel was loved by all who knew him and will be forever missed. He took a piece of his mom and dad’s heart when he left, and sadly, he left us much too soon. We pray that he is at peace, and he knew how much we all loved him. He is still our protector; he is our protective Guardian Angel.

He is survived by his daughters, Ginger Phinney and Leia Phinney. His mother, Molly Magness and

father, Troy Phinney. His brothers, TJ Phinney and Ryan Sheil. His sisters, Brandie Phinney, Gabrielle Stevenson (Robert), Sarah Sheil, Sierra O’Neal (Mitch). His grandmother Kay Coker, along with eight nephews, two nieces, his uncles, aunts and many cousins and friends.

We will have a celebration of life at Lake Jacomo at Shelter 1, March 19, 2022, 2:00 pm. Food will be provided. All are welcome.
