

A graveside funeral service for Ms. Doris Lucille Jackson, 94, of Independence, Missouri, will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at Buckner Hill Cemetery, South Hudson Street, Buckner, Missouri. Burial will immediately follow. The family requests contributions to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64145 in lieu of flowers. Ms. Jackson passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri. Ms. Jackson was born on May 4, 1922 in Mountain Grove, Missouri to Roy Clinton Jackson and Fannie (Holdren) Jackson. She was a member of East Independence Church of Christ, Independence, Missouri.
Ms. Jackson was a loving sister and aunt. She moved from her hometown of Amsterdam, Missouri to Kansas City, Missouri and attended a business college for 2 years. She began her career as Accounting Clerk with Russell Stover Candies in 1946. She retired in 1992 after 46 years of service with Russell Stover Candies. Throughout her adult life, she lived in Independence, Missouri. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles, assembling puzzles, and watching the game of golf on television. Ms. Jackson enjoyed walking with her sister Mary Ann Howe throughout Susquehanna Village. She was a faithful servant and loved attending services with her church family. Ms. Jackson had a standing invitation for Sunday lunch at her sister’s house and enjoyed those meals with the family. She enjoyed being with family and attended all family and holiday gatherings. Ms. Jackson maintained a lifelong friendship with Frankie Jo Clark, a childhood classmate from Amsterdam. They took many trips together as well as participating in social activities in their community.
She is survived by one sister, Mary Ann Howe of Independence, Missouri, two nephews, Dennis J. Howe (Angie) of Blue Springs, Missouri and Garry G. Howe (Linda) of Independence, Missouri, one niece, Beverly A. Coleman (Jerry), of Independence, Missouri, one nephew, Roy Simpson of Baytown, Texas, one nephew, Kevan Simpson of Livingston, Texas, and one niece, Pamela Skinner (George) of Anahuac, Texas.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Simpson.
