Jakie J Myers, age 90, formerly of Independence, passed away April 30, 2017 in Moberly, Mo. Visitation Thursday May 4, 2017, 6pm to 8pm at Newcomers Noland Road Chapel. Funeral Service, 10:30am Friday, May 5, 2017, Messiah Lutheran Church – Independence. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. He was born February, 15, 1927 in Iconium, Mo to Jacob Lawrence and Lula May (Dunn) Myers. He raised and educated in south central Missouri. He worked on the family farm before joining the Army. He built bridges during the Korean Conflict. After his service to our country, Jakie met and married Nona Ingram. Jakie worked at Armour Meat Packing Plant in Kansas City, then attended welding school. He then worked for Clark Manufacturing assembling storage tanks. He retired in the late 80’s and continued to work part time for Goodwill Industries and at the Lake City Ammunition Plant. Jakie loved the outdoors, gardening, mushroom hunting, fishing and his numerous pets to occupy his time. He was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church for over 50 years. Jakie also enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Proceeded brothers Leroy, Raymond, and Ted. Sister, Leora Phillips. Wife, Nona and his parents. Survived by; Daughters; Kathy Smith (David), Betty Hull, Etta Syphert. Son, Buck Hamilton. 3 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Numerous step grandchildren and gr gr grandchildren.
