I really enjoyed knowing JoAnn. I worked with her at Sears. She was a sweetheart!

I recently had the good fortune of meeting JoAnn. I was immediately invited to her annual 4th of the July picnic and felt special.  She always made each person there feel special.  We lunched together several times and I got to know just what a special lady she was.  She loved and worried about her family so much.  She was a friend to everyone she came in contact with.  I am glad our paths crossed.

I send my sincere sympathy to all of her family.

Elmer, Nina and family were the yard to the left of Joann.. winter we made sure we talked if heavy snow or ice storm..Joann had a safe way to get her car out or walk.. you had do do anything for her, when she wasn't looking because she always wanted to do things herself!!  We couldn't wait for Spring because it was time for our flowers and trees to bloom..one of the 1st things that bloomed in the neighborhood was Joann's gorgeous magnolia tree in her back yard... it filled the whole neighborhood with a sweet fragrance... her back yard was peaceful..with so many beautiful interesting things everywhere you look... we respected each others me time and privacy but she knew if she needed anything... we would  be there... she was a woman that was their for her family and a great neighbor... she is loved by so many.

JoAnn was always so dedicated to others making life fun.  The joy and happiness you brought gave all of us  a purpose and will always be remembered.  You will truly be missed.  May the memories you made with family and friends sustained  them in the days ahead.   We love you.

Jo was always so happy,and never met a stranger .the love for her family always showed through her smile and hugs.she will be so missed.love and prayers to the family.



I first met JoAnn when I was just 16 years old and dating her son, Russell.  Three years later, she became my mother-in-law, and shortly after that, I made her a grandmother.  And what a wonderful grandmother she was.  JoAnn taught me how to make Russell's two favorite meals -- fried bologna and fried chicken with mashed potatoes and cream gravy.  I got pretty good at both, but they just never tasted as good as hers!  This woman could cook!  Joann's Fourth of July party every year was epic, and something everyone looked forward to.  It was the highlight of the year for my kids, outdoing even Christmas.  For the past 43 years, my children have spent every July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve at Grandma Jo's.  Even after Russell Jr's death, JoAnn remained close to my children, and for that I am forever grateful.  She loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother, and they loved having her as a grandmother and great-grandmother.  She will be sorely missed, but never, ever forgotten.  I know she and Russell had the most joyous reunion on Monday evening.   


JoAnn was a wonderful caring Mother, and always placed her  family's needs before her own.  I am so grateful she was the Grandmother of my children, she loved them as only a Grandmother could and would do anything that was humanly possible for them.  She was always there for our family in the good times and sad times.  She was always appreciative of little things that I had done for her and when she said thank you it was always from her heart and not just words from her mouth.  I recently found out that I have cancer and she called me to encourage me and comfort me.  It was the last time I got to speak with her.  We talked about old times and laughed together.  She was a strong woman and I loved her, I will miss her deeply. 

JoAnn and I worked together many years ago at Sears.  She was a beautiful person both inside and out.  I can't begin to tell you how much fun she was to work with and all the laughter we shared.  She was a good friend and although I haven't seen her for a long time I remember her love for her family.  My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this very sad time.  RIP JoAnn.
