

Died: January 5, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital East in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
He was 93 years, 4 months. 26 days old.
Graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1948. He worked at Brown’s Feed Grocery and Garage as a Salesclerk before joining the Navy on January 2, 1951. He was stationed in Okinawa and Hawaii. He was honorably discharged November 17, 1954, Ship’s Servicemen 2nd Class.
Married his “Sweet Little Redhead”, Sue F Arnold on April 24, 1956. They were married 68 years. She considered him as her handsome Sailor Boy. They were devoted to one another.
He was employed at Sheffield Steel (later called Armco) as a Machinist, Class A. He was sent by his employer to school to learn this trade. He was given an award for never having a piece rejected or leave the mill that wasn’t perfect. He took great pride in his work. He retired on March 31, 1993, after 38 years.
In his early days he enjoyed hunting, lifting weights and lathe woodworking. He was an avid reader. He enjoyed learning about different countries and cultures. In later years he could be found working in the yard and bird watching. He spent many a day in the backyard playing with his grandchildren. Pulling them around in a red wagon, pushing them on the swings or catching them when they came down the slide. These were some of his favorite memories. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William T. and Effie Bell Rash.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Rash and brother, Howard Rash. Three children-David Rash, Patricia (Larry) Parker, Jeanette (Edward) Wickman Seven Grandchildren-Patience Forkner, Amber Stephens, Lori (Jason) Fox, Erin Parker, Ashley (Billy) Shields, Heather (Daniel) Craig and Weston Wickman. Thirteen Great Grandchildren-Jackson Pruett, William Pruett, Lilian Stephens, Chloe Stephens, Preston Fox, Madison Fox, Carson Fox, Alyson Fox, Sawyer Parker, Myah Shields, Layla Shields, Liam Shields and Jane Craig Three Great Great Grandchildren-Reagan Pruett, Brayson Edwards and Maddox Edwards Nieces-Sherri (Doug) Webb and Cindy (Scott) Hayes
Services will be held at Newcomers Noland Road Chapel located at 509 S Noland Rd Independence, Missouri 64050.
Visitation is Friday, January 17, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with a service is Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 10 am. Committal service to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery Independence, Missouri.
