

Mary Holladay Obituary Mary Frances Holladay, 99, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2017. Funeral services will be 2:00pm on Friday, May 26, 2017 at Newcomer’s Noland Road Chapel with visitation preceding at 1:00pm. Private burial at a later date in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests gifts be made to Ascend Hospice of Kansas City or your favorite charity in her memory. Mrs. Holladay was born on Christmas Day, 1917, to Theodore Frank Kuester and Allie Mary Elizabeth Glenn in Lecompton, KS. She graduated from Lawrence High School and married Walter LeRoy Holladay in 1935. They moved to Kansas City in 1945. She attended Dickinson’s Secretary and Business College. She was secretary to the principal at both William Chrisman and later at Truman High School after it was built. She was a member of Budd Park Christian Church, Order of the Eastern Star, the New Era Study Club, and the Knife and Fork Club of Independence. She was also very supportive of the Boy Scout program serving as Den Mother and encouraged her two sons to attain the rank of Eagle Scout and become members of the Tribe-Of-Micosay. She instilled in her sons the importance of education, work ethic, honesty, character and belief in Christian values. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, canning, gardening, pottery and travel. Lone Star Lake (Lawrence) was a special place as she enjoyed fishing, picnics and playing cards with family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, her parents, Theodore and Allie Kuester, and her siblings, Cora Anderson, Edith Wongwai, Katie Pence, June Ransdell, Glen Kuester, and Calvin Kuester, and daughter-in-law, Georgia Holladay. She is survived by her two sons, Jim Holladay (Lorinda) and Bob Holladay; six grandchildren, Jana Lane (Walt), Brett Holladay (Uli), Stacia Perdue (John), Christine Murray (Steve), Chad Holladay (Melissa), Cheryl Hardy; eleven great-grandchildren, Greg Lane (Kathryn), Lindsey Kreikemeier (Robert), Sarah Holladay, Lukas Holladay, James Perdue, Tyler Perdue, Jessie Fulmer (Jayson), Bailey Stocker, Grace Stocker, Jacob Holladay and Morgan Holladay; and three great-great grandchildren, Heidi and Rhett Kreikemeier, Jack Lane; and many nieces and nephews. “You will never leave us, we carry you in our hearts.”
