

Melvin E. Moeller of Independence, Missouri entered his eternal home on January 15, 2017 at the age of 86. He was temporarily residing at the St Mary’s Manor Nursing Home, Blue Springs MO, while recovering from a recent surgery.
Mel was predeceased by his wife, Marie and his parents, Julius and Alma. He is survived by his sister, Lucille Staton (Harpo); his three sons, Gene (Jan) of Geneva, Ohio; Mike (Teresa) of Independence, Missouri; and Keith (Diann) of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, Brian (Kari), Brandi (Chaz) Pruente, Joelle (Drew) Cannon, and Marcus (Hannah), and seven great-grandchildren: Addison and Reilly Moeller; Callahan, Keegan and Hudson Pruente; Claudia Cannon; and Owen Moeller.
Mel loved attending and watching his children and grandchildren play in all of their sports. He retired from Armco Steel where he had worked his entire career. He was a faithful member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Independence,serving in many capacities including Board Deacon, choir member, usher and Bible Study leader. Mel also honorably served in the Army and was a member of the local VFW for many years.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm on Sunday, January 22, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm, at Newcomer’s Noland Road Chapel in Independence, with Military Honors at that time. Burial will be on Monday, January 23, 2017 in the Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence.
The family wishes to give special thanks to the staff of Country Oaks Village in Grain Valley, Missouri, where Mel resided.
