Jim was born on January 15, 1955, to Larry and Doris Landry in Prince Albert, SK. He enjoyed an adventurous childhood, growing up in various locations across Saskatchewan before eventually settling in Manor, SK with his four siblings: Sandra, Lorne, Irna and Chere. Jim later relocated to Regina, SK, where he met and married his wife Brenda on June 1, 1973. The couple moved to Indian Head in April 1980. Jim and Brenda were blessed with three children: Tina, Angela and Conrad. They celebrated 52 years of marriage.
Jim spent his entire 35 year career at the Regina Correctional Centre, retiring as the Admitting Officer. He was also an entrepreneur and a wizard with numbers. In 1981, he started an income tax business in Indian Head, later named Landry’s Tax Services. The business will continue to be operated by his eldest daughter Tina, whom he mentored.
As a teenager, Jim was involved in Air Cadets and was proud to see his daughter Angela, carry on the tradition.
Jim loved playing hockey in his youth and later became a goalie until retiring from the sport. He coached his son Conrad’s hockey teams over the years and was affectionately known by the boys as “Mr. Jim.” Jim also enjoyed many road trips with friends to watch his favorite team, the Winnipeg Jets play in Winnipeg, MB.
Jim enjoyed hunting from a young age and took pride in providing wild meat for his family. He planned adventurous family camping trips that are fondly remembered by his wife and children.
Jim loved being a grandfather. He delighted in joining in or hearing about their shenanigans, proudly telling his friends about their accomplishments and watching them play sports.
Jim will be greatly missed by his friends around town, with whom he shared coffee and shot the breeze, as well as by the many clients and co-workers he met throughout the years.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Brenda; his children: Tina (Chad) Bieber, Angela (Chris) Maier and Conrad (Joyce) Landry; his grandchildren: Ivy, Eve, Piper, Ryder and Brandon; his brother Lorne (Sophie) Landry and his sisters: Sandra Pratt (Dave), Irna (Mike) Brown and Chere (Mervin) Schenher; along with his many nieces and nephews.
