William Duke

Bill passed away peacefully in Tatagwa View Care Home, Weyburn, SK with his wife and family by his side on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at the age of 86 years. Bill was predeceased by his parents Fred and Ella Duke; one brother Lance; his sisters, Frances Rowe, Margaret Kalmring and Nelda Meadows. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years Joyce; daughter Joanne (Lorne) Honeysett; son Barry (Rita Wiome); daughter Janice (Keith) Johnstone; four grandsons (his pride and joy), Shawn and Trevor Mus; Jody (Christy) and Jeremy (Stacey); five great grandsons: Brayden, Cody, Kaiden, Evan and Nash and one great granddaughter Madison. Bill was born at Francis, he attended school until his father passed away. At the age of 15 Bill took over the farm, putting up feed for the cattle, seeding and harvesting, fixing and repairing. When farming was not good, Bill took a job working for a glass company in Regina. He eventually moved his family to Regina while still continuing to farm on weekends. Bill worked hard all of his life, working in Regina and farming yet he still found time to build their home in Francis. Bill and Joyce enjoyed spending several months during the winter in Weslaco, Texas for a number of years until Parkinsons prevented them from going. While in Texas Bill enjoyed golfing, in 1995 he hit two hole in ones which he laughed about for a long time “not bad for a novice” In 2009 Bill and Joyce sold their home in Francis and moved to Weyburn. Bill moved to Crocus Villa for 6 months and then too Tatagwa View. A man with a great sense of humour, he always had time for his kids and grandkids. He could build and fix anything that came his way. At Bill’s request there will be no funeral service. Joyce and his family will lay him to rest at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff in House # 3 at Tatagwa View for the great care provided to Bill. In Bill’s memory donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
