

a lifelong resident of Indianapolis, died on June 11, 2013 of Alzheimer’s disease. She had lived at Hooverwood since 2004.
Mrs. Mocas retired from teaching at St. Thomas Aquinas School in 1970. Prior to that, she taught at St. Francis de Sales School.
She was a tireless community volunteer. At St. Thomas, she was involved in many activities, including the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the choir. During the 1980s, she helped organize a group of volunteers who created and staffed a weekly recreation program at the Indiana State Women’s Prison. In 1994, Mrs. Mocas was presented with the Spirit of Indy award by the mayor.
She was the widow of Christo Mocas and was preceded in death by her six siblings, her son Nicholas, and her grandson Ian O’Connell. Surviving are her children: Rebecca Mocas O’Connell and Stephen Mocas; grandchildren: Nicholas O’Connell and Melissa Pattison; a great-grandchild, Michelle Pattison.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Church on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 1:00. Visitation at St. Thomas immediately following Mass.
