In Loving Memory: Arnett Riley McKinney Brown
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Arnett Riley McKinney Brown on December 16, 2025, at the age of ninety-one. She was a devoted wife, first lady (Mt. Herman Baptist Church), sister, auntie, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend. Arnett departed this life peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering love.
Arnett Riley McKinney Brown was the sixth of seven children born, on October 28, 1934, to John and Rosetta Riley in New Madrid, Missouri. She grew up surrounded by warmth and compassion. From an early age, Arnett exhibited the qualities that characterized her life: generosity, determination, resilience, and a gentle Christian spirit. Family always remained at the heart of Arnett’s world, and the bonds formed in childhood lasted throughout her life. A strong woman of faith, she provided a ceaseless supply of hope and guidance, often declaring “stay focused on Christ no matter what.”
Throughout her years, Arnett pursued passions and ambitions with integrity and enthusiasm. Whether excelling as a student attending Purdue University, working at the Women’s Clinic, volunteering with seniors at the Flanner House, counseling young couples, or supporting friends and family, Arnett’s commitment to excellence and service was evident in all aspects of their life.
She married Willis McKinney Sr, of Fort Wayne, Indiana and this union was blessed with four sons and two daughters. She later married Reverend William L Brown and blended their families adding two loving daughters and one son. She and William had one son. Headed by Christ, the Brown household was a place of immense joy, laughter, and family fellowship.
Arnett honored her bond with devotion and cared for William Brown who suffered with Alzheimer’s until his passing. Her mother, father and siblings preceded her in passing.
