BARBARA ANN POPP CAIN Indianapolis - Barbara Ann Popp Cain, 89, of Indianapolis and Bradenton, Florida, peacefully passed away surrounded by family on December 23, 2019. Born January 17, 1930 in Louisville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late George and Anna Rose Popp. Barbara grew up in Indianapolis, graduated from St. Agnes Academy and attended Purdue University. She married her high school Sweetheart, James Cain in 1951. Barbara took care of her husband and children and created a warm, loving and welcoming home for her family. She was a beautiful, loving, humble, and a very kind and giving woman - loved by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by the ones who loved her. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her son Joe, her parents, and sister Dotty Olinger Hindert. Barbara's love and spirit will be remembered by her children: Karen Layton (Bob), Stephen Cain (Teri), Susan Dickert (Frank), Maureen Glassberg (Budd), Mary Ann Gahafer (Roland), James Cain Jr. (Jenn); grandchildren: Zachary Layton, Adam Layton (Grace), Kyle Grant (Karen), Erich Cain (Lauren), Emily Cain, Whitney Frizell (James), John Nicholson, Joseph Nicholson, Josie Luciano, Ellie Glassberg, Alexander Gahafer, Madison Gahafer, Ryan Cain, Abigail Cain, Ethan Cain; great-grandchildren: Alexander Layton, Bradley Cain, Brenan Grant, Brady Frizell, Dorian Nicholson and Coco Luciano. Barbara's family offers their whole-hearted thanks and appreciation to the many people who helped care for her over the last several months, especially Molly Kinnett, Kathy Kinghorn and Shelly Murphy. We would also like to thank Fr. Jim Farrell, St. Pius X Catholic Church, for the spiritual guidance and prayers. He was a great comfort to our mother and family. A Memorial Mass will be held January 27 at 10:00 am at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, 833 Magellan Dr, Sarasota, Florida 34243. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Indiana or St. Pius X Catholic Church.
