Betty was born in Greenwood, Mississippi to Jessie Heart and on November 24,1942. She Gratinated High from Amanda Elzy High School in greenwood, Mississippi in 1961. She met her Husband James Neal who proceeds' her in death, in Greenwood, Mississippi and was united in matrimony in 1964.While in Greenwood they conceived John and Timothy Neal. James and Betty moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1966, where their youngest son Christopher Neal was born.
Betty Neal went to school in 1982 to Indiana Business Collage to get an Associate in Accounting. No more stay-at-home mom she went to work at Central agency counseling for the blind in the early 80’s then went to work as a in the Claims Department at USA Funds Group that later became Salli Mae. In 1996 She Graduated from Martin university with a Batchlors degree in Religious Studies. Betty retired as a Sr. legal Analyst with Salli Mae after 22 years of service in 2006.
In the early 1970’s James and Betty became members of Greater Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. She Stated singing in the Choir then became the Director of the Senior and Junior choir. She also was the Director of Vacation Bible School (VBS) for several years before handing it down for someone else to direct. Betty Neal loved serving the church and instilled in us the importance of serving in church as well. Her service roles slowed down after retirement and the need to take care of her Husband.
On June 18, 2021, at 2:00pm, Betty J. Neal departed this earth and went to celebrate with the Lord. She is Proceeded in death by her Mother Jessie Towns, step Father Edward Towns, Husband James Neal, Son John F. Neal, Brother Lamont B. Stewart
