

As a teenager in Buffalo, Betty loved dancing to the famous Big Bands. After business school, she worked at Socony Vacuum Oil Co. of NY and National Gypsum Co. where she met her husband, Stewart.
They lived in San Antonio, Texas for two years while Stew was in the Army Air Corps.
Betty worked at army bases and at the San Antonio courthouse. A stay at home mom to Richard and Susan in Indianapolis, Betty was involved in PTA, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Campfire Girls, the Eastside Family YMCA and many women’s groups at Old Bethel United Methodist Church.
Betty and Stew retired to Sister Bay Wisconsin, where Betty was very active at the Ephraim Moravian Church in women’s groups and where she served as an elder. As a member of a weekly church sewing group, she made bed size afghans and lap robes for Feed and Clothe My People to help those in need. The group also made hospital gowns out of men’s old white shirts that were sent to Nicaragua.
Betty was a volunteer mealtime assistant at Scand Care Center for over 25 years. She was very active in the Sister Bay Women’s Club. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Sister Bay Women’s Club and the Ephraim Moravian Church.
She loved entertaining, golf, Bridge, Yahtzee, Liverpool Rummy, Euchre, bowling and many other games.
Betty returned to Indianapolis in 2006 to be close to family. She lived 19 years at Lincoln Lodge at American Village – where staff and residents are friendly, caring and helpful. She participated in many activities including Euchre and Bridge. Betty crocheted many premie baby caps for local hospitals and dish cloths for family and friends.
Betty was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church. She had a strong faith in God and dearly loved family, friends and country. Betty was interested in politics and always voted. She lived a long, good, happy full life.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Stew Wolf, her parents; brothers, James N. and Harold B. Bowen; daughter-in-law, Donna Wolf and son-in-law, Joseph Smallwood.
Survivors include son, Richard Wolf and daughter, Susan Smallwood; grandchildren, Michael (Amy) Wolf, Alexander (Panu) Wolf, Todd Smallwood and Kristi Smallwood Scheiman; great-grandchildren, Zack, Connor, Cole and Aiden; nephews, Gary Bowen, Jay (Cindy) Bowen; niece, Barbie (Scott) Bowen Wilson; six great-nephews; three great-great-nephews and seven great-great-nieces.
Memorial visitation for Betty will be on Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 10:30am until 12:00pm at Epworth United Methodist Church followed by a memorial service at 12:00pm. Inurnment will be at Ephraim Moravian Cemetery in Fish Creek, Wisconsin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in Betty’s name to Epworth United Methodist Church or to Shriners Children’s Hospital.
