
Bishop James Edison Tyson 84 Of Indianapolis transitioned from earth to glory, July 6, 2011. Bishop pastored five assemblies the most recent being Christ Church Apostolic which he founded in 1976. Bishop was also chosen to serve the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. as Diocesan of the Oklahoma State Council, the Iowa/Nebraska State Council, the Montana and Dakotas Council, and as Diocesan of the Fourth Episcopal District (Indiana) and was elevated to the office of Assistant Presiding Bishop in 1998. He attented Indiana Christian University, Aenon Bible College, Temple University, Malone College and Youngstown State University, receiving a B.A., B.Th., and M.A. degrees. He also received an honorary Doctorate degree from Aenon Bible College. He enlisted in the United States Navy, serving in World War II. A few of Bishop Tysons community activities were: Sheriff/Chaplain for the Marion County Jail, member of the Ten Point Coalition and the Ecumenical Ministerial Alliance of Indianapolis His legacy will be carried on by wife, Ruth Ann Tyson; his children: Bishop James Laverne (Linda), Ira Kathleen, Lisa Anne, Bishop Cleophus Shawn (Krista), Rachel Alixandrea; daughter-in-love, Chelsea Antoinette; sisters, Carolyn Tyson, Christine Scott ( Dr Leonard), Jacquelyn Hope (Joe), Cleopatra Oates, brother, Richard Tyson (Florence) 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, Christ Church Apostolic family and a host of family and friends. Services will be held Saturday, July 16 at 10 A.M. with calling from 8 to 9. Visitation will be held on Friday July 15 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. with program at 7 p.m. at Christ Church Apostolic.
