Brian Scott Dillman

Dr. Dillman passed away after being struck by a vehicle a few blocks from his family’s home in the Meridian-Kessler neighborhood. He was born in Indianapolis to Peggy and Scott Dillman on October 3, 1972 and grew up just down the street from his family’s greenhouse business on Bluff Road. He attended Perry Meridian High School, graduating third in his class of 1991. He attended Wabash College where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and graduated summa cum laude in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a minor in Biology. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1999 and completed his residency in emergency medicine at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2002.

Dr. Dillman married Erin Hedges on October 19, 2002 at the Columbia Club in Indianapolis. Their daughter Eleanor was born in January 2007.

Dr. Dillman practiced as an emergency room physician for Emergency Physicians of Indianapolis at Franciscan Health for twenty years. In 2013 he took a full-time position at Eli Lilly where he worked in Global Patient Safety for nine years while continuing to work part time in the emergency room at Franciscan.

Dr. Dillman’s kindness and respect for others were felt by anyone who met him. He enjoyed listening to live music, trying new craft beers, visiting favorite local restaurants, traveling with family and friends, and taking daily walks in the neighborhood. His loyalty and sense of humor are gifts that his loved ones will cherish forever.

Dr. Dillman is survived by his wife, Erin Hedges, their daughter Eleanor, his sister, Lisa Dillman, and his parents Peggy and Scott Dillman.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on May 26, 2002, at the Gothic Chapel at Crown Hill Cemetery. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Friedens United Church of Christ with Pastor Marc Hayden officiating.
