

Burnett Patton was born the 2nd oldest of 6 children to the late Henry Hollis and Mabel (Meeks) Hollis on March 24th, 1932, in Scobey, Mississippi. Burnett attended Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1950 where she earned her high school diploma.
Burnett accepted Christ at the age of 19 under the divine leadership of Reverend Johnson and was baptized at Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. This is where her mother was in the Senior Choir.
After graduation Burnett decided to go to work, she went on to work for Hook's Drugstore. After leaving there she got a job working for RCA in 1957 until her retirement in 1989.
Burnett met a very charming man named David L. Patton and after dating they knew they would be together forever, 66 years to be exact! On September 21st, 1957, they were united in holy matrimony. To this union they were blessed to have 3 children.
Burnett loved gardening, sewing, canning her vegetables with her mom and sisters. She enjoyed family gatherings with her immediate and extended family and friends. You could always find her making the desserts whenever there was a gathering. Burnett loved her monthly outing at the Union Hall and going to the casino boat. She was known to be the family hairdresser for all the women in the family.
Burnett departed this life on March 22nd, 2023, at 6:15PM at Indiana University Methodist hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. She passed away at the age of 90 years young.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Henry and Mabel Meeks Hollis, brother; Aaron Hollis, sister; Nicy Davenport, Delilah Colbert and Archie Hayes and granddaughter; Shelby Charee' Patton.
Burnett was survived by her loving husband David L. Patton, children; Ernie Darrell (Cathie) Patton, Charlotte Elaine Patton and Irene Denise Patton, one granddaughter; Sydnei Chanel Patton-McClendon and one sister; Irene Simpson of Detroit, Michigan, along with a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A visitation for Burnett will be held Saturday, April 1, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 PM.
