He made great friends in his bass clubs, made new fishing friends when he traveled to Florida for the winter, and won many tournaments with his fishing partners over the years. He also enjoyed deer and pheasant hunting in his younger years. He really enjoyed traveling and went all over the world in both the Navy and as a vacationer including the entire United States, Grand Cayman, St. Thomas, Mexico, Australia and more. One of his favorite trips was halibut fishing in Alaska.
