Knew Nancy, Mike, and Gregory very well.  Enjoyed their fellowship during the Wabash Family camp meetings.    Wonderful family and learned a lot of life's lessons from Reverend Chestnuts sermons and teachings...

The word friend is used often; Charles was the epitome of this; he officiated at my sister/s wedding, mom and dad's funeral and the many talks he and I had were that of a friend. Nancy, you were the same. My prayers are with you. He was a great man.

Uncle Charlie was a wonderful man! A man of God, a wonderful husband to Aunt Nan, a great dad to Mike and Greg and he was a great guy to all of us kids. Even though he was never really our uncle, he treated us as if he was. We had some great talks. I will really miss him. I loved him and the whole family. I know he's singing with the choir! I'll see you someday, Uncle Charlie!

What a fitting service yesterday for one of the finest Pastors we have ever known. So thankful I was able to attend. My initial thought of Nancy was how frightening it must be to her & the family to face a world without a Charles Chestnut in it!  But then I remembered.....EMANUEL! We have found it to be true that God is always with us...  Still can hear that marvelous chuckle of Charlie's. The fabric of our lives has the thread of a true man of God woven thru it. His kindness set him apart.

Our heart felt sympathy goes out to Nancy and the family.   Pastor Chestnut was very influential in our lives when we first started out in ministry.  He was also a great friend to our parents, Roy & Florence Lake.   Each time we saw Pastor Chestnut and Nancy, we observed loving encouragement along with very wise counsel.  Pastors who mentor the younger generation could learn much from Pastor Chestnut.   The Lord, I'm sure, has welcomed him home with "well done faithful servant".  Our love and prayers go out to Nancy, a woman of grace, and the family.

Our heart felt sorrow and sympathy goes out to Nan and sons with the passing of Charles.  Our cousin, Charles, was a godly man and best friend.  We lived across the street from each other in Bloomington and spent many hours together in our youth.  Charles had an influence on my life.  He will be sorely missed.  2Cor.5:8, "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."  KJV

When I met Rev Charlie Chestnut in 1975 at the Bedford Church, I was an unsaved soul.  Under his ministry I was led to the Lord and acknowledged His saving grace on February 9 1976. In learning of Charlie's death, brings tears of sadness and tears of joy in knowing I will get to join him at a later date. Donna and my prayers are with you and the family. I want you to know that the Christian teachings I received from Charlie has made the last 37 years of my life the best they could be.

Pastor Charles Chestnut was a gracious man who exuded the love and peace of Jesus Christ every time we saw him.  He was our pastor and conference superintendent, and a light in this world.  I like April Armstrong's entry, "Thank you... for giving to the Lord. I am a life that was changed..." 
We are praying for Nancy and all the family in this time of adjustment.

He was a wonderful pastor.  He married my husband and I in 1980.  He talked to us several times because I was so young before he would do the ceremony. He was a loving and caring pastor and will be very missed.

I am very grateful to Pastor Chestnut.  He married my husband and I 32 years ago.  He was my pastor at West Morris Street Free Methodist.  I was very young and he met with us several times before he felt we were ready.  Thanks again for being a caring and loving pastor.

Pastor Chestnut was a wonderful man of God. He baptized my mother Laura M. Burnell at the West Morris St. Free Methodist Church and also visited my brother-in-law Robert R. Young in the hospital when he had cancer and urged him to accept Jesus into his heart. He will be missed tremendously! God be with Mrs. Chestnut and all his family!

Pastor Chestnut was a wonderful man.  He baptized my mother, Laura M. Burnell at the West Morris Street Free Methodist Church.  He also visited my Brother-In-Law Robert R. Young when he was in the hospital with cancer and urged him to invite Jesus into his life. May God comfort you Mrs. Chestnut and all your family. He was a great man of God!

Sorry to hear of his passing. , but rejoicing that he was a servant of God and he is now in heaven.  I am praying for you.

Charles was my pastor during my high school years at West Morris, and also officiated at the marriage of my mother and step-father in 1981. Such a wonderful man.

Loved Pastor Chestnut.  He married me back in 1982.  One of the sweetest men I have ever met.  God bless him
