Christeen Buffington

Christeen attended school in the Gillsville, Georgia school system.

Christeen professed her faith in Christ at an early age at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, in Gillsville, Georgia, and was baptized.

Christeen and her family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in the 1960’s. Shortly after moving to Indianapolis, she was employed by Eli Lily working in the Culinary Department at Wishard Hospital for many years until she retired.

After moving to Indianapolis Christeen joined Womack Memorial CME church where she was a faithful member until her health began to fail, and she was no longer able to attend services, but she continued to support the church by spreading the news regarding events and fellowship.

Christeen was a very loving and caring person she was always concerned about others before herself. She was passionate about young people getting an education and gainful employment opportunities.

Christeen loved to cook. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, auntie and was admired by everyone she had contact with.

Christeen was preceded in death by her parents; son, Larry Moon; sister, Sylvia Pipkins; five brothers: Otis, Clyde, Early James, Monroe, Charles Jr Buffington.

Christeen Buffington departed this life on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at the age 94 years 10 months, surrounded by her family at her bedside.

She leaves to cherish her memory son, Watson Jr Moon; sister, Pauline Byrd, (Edward); grandson, Gregory Moon; granddaughter, Tameka Moon; 5 great grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, church family and friends.

A visitation for Christeen will be held Friday, October 13, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Womack Memorial CME Church, 4401 Carrollton Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46205, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM.
