Courtney Suzette Chavis

Courtney grew up in Brownsburg where she attended St. Malachy and Brownsburg high school. She graduated in 1995. She then went on to begin courses at IUPUI. Courtney began a career in property management where she worked for 15 years. She then took on the role of being a stay-at-home mom, where she often traveled with her son Aiden to football and basketball tournaments. This is where some of her fondest memories occurred with her son. She then returned to the workforce and worked for Avon Community schools as a treasurer for three years.

Courtney’s favorite activities were moving her body with long walks and swimming. She loved spending time at the lake and in the sunshine, and most of all spending time with her grandson, Milo. She took great pride in her family and being a mother. Her compassionate and motherly nature meant that those around her were always taken care of and loved deeply.

Courtney was preceded by her daughter Alexis and stepbrother Daniel. She is survived by daughter Lauryn Watson and son Aiden Chavis; parents Robert and Marline Carter, Willam and Carol Khare; brothers Butch, Jeff, and Eric Carter; stepbrothers Mark and Doug Khare; stepsisters Amy Essley, Laura Crum, and Heather Taylor; and grandson Milo Contreras.

While our hearts mourn the loss of her bright light, we take comfort in knowing that Courtney is reunited with her daughter Alexis and her stepbrother Daniel in eternal life.

A Celebration of Life for Courtney will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208.
