My deepest sympathy to Ski’s family!  I am sorry I could not make it to the arrangements. Ski was a gentle soul and I will always remember all of the fun times we had in our early years.  I will especially miss his annual Indy 500 kick-off e-mail!  He will have the best seat in the house this year!  RIP Ski!

Any time we had a gathering of SJA folks, Dave was always among the first I would ask about, will he be there. He was a 'salt of the earth' guy, always ready to help. I didn't know of his work with the recovery community, but it fits with the way I remember Dave when we were growing up.  A decent guy.  He has finished the race, and now he's in heaven praying for us.

Dave was a big help to me in early sobriety.  I credit him being instrumental in setting me on the right track.  Down to earth, with a great sense of humor.  I was saddened to hear of his death.  A great loss for all who knew him.  My sincere condolences to the family.

What a wonderful guy. So many will miss him. I can’t even begin with the stories, it would take forever.

Family and Friends of Dave Leszcynski,
When thinking about Ski the day I heard about his passing, I was going through my memory of what I would say about him.  When I read his well written obituary in the Star yesterday I realized you captured it perfectly.  I'm another of his lifelong friends, having shared grade school, little league at Ozark Ike, part of high school, caddy days, visiting when he was at IU, and many face-to-face conversations in later years.  Ski was a sports fan extraordinaire, but he set himself apart from most because not only did he follow just about every sport at every level, of both genders, but he was interested in every team or individual, not just his favorites.  That was also the way he treated people.  He will be missed.

I remember Ski playing Little League at Ozark Ike  pick up b-ball in gym at Old Church at SJA or hanging out at the caddy barn at MHCC.  Ski always had a humorous take on things but also had something insightful to say. He was a great guy.

What a wonderful friend Ski was to me!  so many memories of grade school, caddying, sneaking into the 500.  Even after i moved away from Indy about 50 years ago we always stayed in touch.  He visited me a handful of times here in Kansas and i would visit friends in Indy often and he would always be one to visit me.  so many laughs and stories over all these years.  The years we couldn't visit in person we would email on a regular basis and he would keep me updated on you guys and your families.  I am so glad i came to the SJA 50 year reunion last summer and was able to see Ski again !!  He had so many friends its  unbelievable !  Very sad to hear of his passing, and very sad that i cant attend services this weekend.  I will always remember Ski and our friendship very happily and already miss him tremendously !!!   Love to Ski and all your family !!
