

Her family moved from Keyser Mineral, West Virginia to Indianapolis when she was very young so her father could work for the railroad. She attended George Washington high school where she was active in many sports and the alumni organization.
After graduation she worked at AT&T and Eli Lilly. At Lilly she met and married Raymond Means and they had a son, Thomas.
She and Ray enjoyed an active social life at the Atheneum, the American Legion and their Mystic Bay community. While Thomas was young Doris was an enthusiastic volunteer for the Children’s Museum, the American Legion and the Atheneum.
Travel was one of her favorite interests with a trip to England as a particular highlight. She enjoyed many day-long travel outings, especially those involving casino visits. Even into her 90’s she was usually ready to attend the Wednesday bus trips at her retirement community and participate in the weekly entertainment offerings.
She is predeceased by her parents Effie Bland and Cloyd G. Lipscomb, as well as a baby sister who died before she was born, 2 brothers, her husband Raymond and son Thomas.
She is survived by 2 stepsons, David (Rosemary) and Michael (Sara), and 3 grandchildren, Emily Low, Diana Moss and Micah Means.
