Duane was born December 24, 1957 to James C. Sobecki and Arlene (Jozwiak) Sobecki in Dunkirk, NY.
Growing up, Duane’s family moved to Illinois before they ultimately settled in Washington, IN. As a young
precocious child, Duane loved to read and play sports. Duane grew into a committed high school athlete who loved his time wrestling and playing football for the Washington Hatchets. He earned a BS in Business from Indiana University, Duane began his career at Bloomington Hospital in Human Resources, where he met his future wife Jennie Anna (Wiltz) Sobecki. They later married July 10, 1982 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Bloomington. Duane and Jennie later moved to Dyer, Indiana, where he worked at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital. He then left Dyer for Indianapolis to work at HealthPlus HMO. Duane then worked in several start ups as a consultant before finally settling into Focused Results, the family business. He absolutely loved to synthesize information, and he especially loved to learn about, watch, and analyze football. His passion for football grew especially through his 16 years coaching all levels 3rd-8th grade at St.Pius X Catholic School. For his commitment to coaching, Duane was Honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Catholic Youth Organization of Indianapolis in 2017. After his tenure ended at St. Pius X, Duane spent many seasons scouting for the Bishop Chatard High School football program. The games he most enjoyed watching, however, were the youth sports games played by his grandchildren. His booming voice could be heard over the crowd, cheering on the entire team. He truly loved being a grandfather, and he was exceptional at it.
Duane is survived by his wife and best friend Jennie Sobecki, his two children Greg Sobecki and Allison
(Sobecki) Tabaska, his son-in-law Jake Tabaska, his future daughter-in-law Alexandra Davidson, his
grandchildren Luke and Natalie Tabaska; his mother Arlene Sobecki, and his brother Dean Sobecki and sister-in-law Brenda (Brown) Sobecki, and his sister Dawn (Sobecki) Fritschle. He was preceded in death by his father, James C. Sobecki (2013) and his brother Daniel Sobecki (2017).
