I am so grateful and so proud to call you my Grandpa! I was blessed to share 36 years wonderful years of memories. I will never forget "Clyde The Clown"; Grandma & Grandpa had one and then there was one at our house a few doors down (but I only thought there was 1!!) They would trick me and say I better hurry and run home before Clyde beats me...and of course  Clyde ALWAYS beat me :)  To this day, I have one of the Clyde's and he had the other...now I will be taking care of 2.  I will miss your stories, your smile, your handy-man skills, your stubbornness, your visits, and all the wonderful things about you. My kids adored you and always enjoyed your visits (especially enjoyed taking Snap Chat photos with you, lol)....eating ice cream together was a fav and also their last visit with you. They knew how much you LOVED your Frosty's or any ice cream. Chris, he enjoyed the many stories you shared about work and he is proud to carry on the family trade...Plumbing. You were such a strong man and lived the best life.  We are at peace knowing you are with Grandma again. You will always be missed, and never ever forgotten. We will miss you Earl. You always had great stories.  My mom and dad Catherine and Elmer Woods were always great friends with you and Lydia. From being neighbors on Emerson Ave. to visiting in later years they all had great times together . You and Lydia were really special people. Rest In Peace with Lydia

I can't remember a time when my Uncle Earl didn't ride a motorcycle.  He was my "cool" uncle!  He always had a smile and a great story to share.  When I was attending IUPUI, Uncle Earl was working on a project on campus.  I would sometimes run into him in the cafeteria and we would have lunch together.  Good memories with this guy!  I know he was my dads partner as they rode the same plumbing truck when they worked for my grandpa and I'm sure my dad learned a lot from his big brother!  Lot's of love to you all!  Uncle Earl will be missed!

Grandpa you are the best. I'm so lucky to have had you.we had so many good times together from my first dance,hanging out with you while you worked in the garage, riding on the motorcycle or simply teaching me right from wrong. I was proud of you for the last two years you did way better than I thought you would. I will miss you more than I can say. And love you so much .I'm truly blessed to have had you in my life. I was lucky to have the best grandpa ever! Going to miss hearing your voice on a weekly (almost daily) basis when you would call me about what mail you have gotten. I will always remember all of the trips to Florida you and grandma always took me on. As well as our trip to Colorado with Tracy too. You were such a fun grandpa with the biggest heart! Keith is going to miss hearing your stories about what it was like to be a plumber back in your day and how things are so different now. He always enjoyed talking to you no matter what it was about. I am so blessed to have had you in my life for the last 38 years and I got to share you with my kids and husband. You are already missed so much but I am so happy you are now with grandma again. Love you always. ❤

I had the pleasure of being the daughter-in-law of this precious man for 46 years.  He blessed my life with many memories.  He was always there to help us when we built our three houses.   Of course, he was a workaholic and always had to be busy doing something.  If it wasn't helping someone, then he was puttering around in his garage working on some quirky little "invention".  He was always coming up with "better" ways of doing things.  He loved taking pictures.  It didn't matter where he was or what was going on....he took pictures of it.  I would have never believed that after Mom  passed that he would become so fond of flowers and trinkets.  He went to flea markets a couple of times a week for a while and would always come back with artificial flowers, pretty vases, clocks of all kinds, statues of birds, cars, trains and anything else that was, according to Dad was a good deal.  His favorite phrase was always, "well it only costs $$ so it was a good deal".  His apartment was full of all of his little flea market excursion items.  He was a real trooper too.  To go through so much in this last year and never complain is a testament to his strength.  I know how much he missed Mom.  Her chair, with her picture and some memory items, was right next to his chair and he told us he talked to her all the time. So, now he is finally where he needs and wanted to be, with his soulmate of 70 years.  Bless you Dad.  I will miss you very much and I know that, when the time comes, I will see you again.  Until then, know that you were loved so much and admired  by many.

I have to say, growing up, that I probably had more than most kids, and a lot of help from my dad. I got things for Christmas that cost more than they really could afford on Dad's wages at that time.  At 6 or 7, I got a radio that Dad helped me wire.  I got my first stereo at about 9 and a go cart at age 11.  He let me go places with him on his motorcycle all the time.  I worked with him at Grandpa Brown's plumbing shop when I was 13 and 14.  He taught me how to grade yards with his tractor.  I still have that tractor and still use it. We were great pals.  When I got my license, he bought me a Honda 305 Dream, which I rode like hell (but he didn't know that). I blew the engine and he helped me rebuild it. I even talked him into putting in dome pistons so it would have more horsepower. Not many dads would do that. He even helped me put in new transmissions in cars that I tore up.  He put the plumbing in the first house that I built, dug footings and the crawl space.  He dug the hole for our swimming pool with his backhoe when I built my second house and helped put a sprinkler system in my third house. He was always ready to help any way he could. All I had to do was ask.  I had a childhood and life of learning that most kids never have the luxury of having.  It was hard for all of us to watch him go from such a strong man to someone so frail.  I used to brag to other kids on how he could rip a phone book in half.  Phone books back then were about 2" thick.But, he never complained at all until the last couple of days. He was a "tough old bird" and I say that lovingly. I don't think very many people could have withstood all the problems he had and never complain or get bitter about it. So, now I have to say good-bye. I will miss him terribly. He was a great man, he and Mom had a great life together and he was the best father anyone could have had.  I love you Dad. Your son, Earl Jr.

Dad,  we will miss you always but we know that you are where you should be right there with our Lord and mom.  You really were the best dad we could have had growing up. I grew up liking the same passion as you for a hobby “ riding motorcycles “.   You worked hard all your life untill you retired at 62.   You and mom traveled and seen a lot.  You made us laugh with your scooter,  it’s  all tricked out.   He would buy broken figurines and bring them home an fix them.  I’ll miss the little “ arguments we had” because we disagreed  we are both stubborn but I would look at him and shake my finger and. Say “  you are not going to win this time “. Lol you would then just laugh and say “ ok”.  With a big smile.  Everybody loved him there at Crestwood Village.

Rest in peace Grandpa.  Damon, Brenner, Kara and I will miss you.   Always a smile, always a hug.  He enjoyed his family and loved  watching everyone interacting.  I will miss his stories of his younger years... we learned a lot about him that way!  His inventions cracked me up, he was always coming up with a way to make his scooter hold more stuff, a hook here or there to store various things he wanted to carry with him.  Even our dog, Shiloh, had a special bond with him!  To the rest of the family, we share in his passing the sadness of being left behind, but we have in Christ the hope of seeing him and our other lost loved ones one day.  I truly believe that with all of my heart,      in Jesus' name.....

My deepest condolence to the family of Earl, he was such a great person and a wonderful friend.  I know how happy he is today being with his beloved wife Lydia what a great couple they made. You both are missed but it was great  just knowing you both, one of your old mall friends.
