 Obituario de Earnest Berry Jr.
On the beautiful sunny day of April 25th, 2021, Earnest Berry Jr. M.D. passed away. He was born on July 30th, 1951 to Earnest Berry Sr. and Essie Mae Trim Berry in Andalusia, Alabama. They later had two additional sons and one daughter. His Alabama family knew him best as "Ponto". Earnest received his education in Andalusia, Alabama. In 1970, he graduated from Woodson High School. He went on to college where he attended Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama. While there, he attended the medical summer program at Harvard University. In 1974, he entered Meharry Medical College where he became a physician and specialized in Family Medicine. Meharry was where he met his wife, Lola Evans Berry, and they married in 1979. Through that union three sons were born and four granddaughters. Earnest believed in quietly giving back. He briefly served in the National Guard and Army Reserve after completing medical school, reaching the rank of Major. Over his lifetime Earnest was an avid reader. He also became a lifelong student of genealogy and world history specializing in slave trade routes. Every night from 10 PM to 2 AM you would find him on the computer researching the family’s history and talking about it with his cousin Edward. Knowledge and learning were very important to him; so much so that his mantra to his family was “learn something new every day.” Earnest Berry Jr. is survived by his loving wife, Lola Evans Berry; his three sons: Earnest III, Johnathan, and William; his four granddaughters: Layla, Brianna, Adriannah, and Maya; and his two siblings: Marilyn and Marvin Berry and a host of nieces and nephews
