Edward "Gene" Brown

On Easter morning, April 4, 2021, Edward "Gene" Brown, 92, became one of Heaven's angels. He was born in Mattoon, Illinois, July 10, 1928 to the late Carl and Mamie Brown. Gene graduated from Beech Grove High School and served in the United States Army, 1950-1952, during the Korean War. He married LaVera (Whitaker), December 23, 1950 and they were married 70 years.

Gene owned and operated Brown's Garage in Beech Grove from 1958-1993, retiring in December, 1993 and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Beech Grove. He was a master mechanic and could fix or repair nearly anything. He enjoyed boating on Lake Cumberland for many years and spending winters in North Ft. Myers, Florida. He was a treasure on earth and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Gene is survived by his wife, LaVera Brown, son Jeff (Kay) Brown, daughter Kathy (Mark) Freudenstein, grandchildren Jason (Emily) Brown, Jodi (Josh) Lash, Chad (Ashley) Freudenstein, Corey (Jessica) Freudenstein and 10 great grandchildren Remi and Jaxson Brown, Alizabeth, Haleigh, Zoey and Norah Lash, Neela and Andrew Freudenstein, and Mya and Macy Freudenstein. Gene was preceded in death by his parents and sister Joan (Don) Hart Culver.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM at Little and Sons Funeral Home, 4901 E. Stop 11 Road, Indianapolis, IN 46237. Visitation at 10:00AM Friday, April 9, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Beech Grove, 5521 Churchman Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46203; funeral services immediately following at 11:00AM with Pastor Tom Strong presiding. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. COVID 19 masks are required for the visitation and the funeral.
