

SFC Edward Lee Arvol Reed, age 76, of Indianapolis, Indiana was called to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by family after a battle with cancer on Saturday, December 18, 2021. Edward was born November 10, 1945 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Lee Edward and Nettie Louise (Miller) Reed.
He attended Tech High School, then at the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Army. He took his basic training at Fort Knox, KY. He was with the 101st Airborne Division, 82nd 5th Special Forces Airborne Division, and completed 3 tours in Vietnam. On his return to the states in 1971 he met Linda Bohall and they were married September 25, 1971 and lived at Fort Knox. Then September 1, 1972 Edward became a proud father of his first son, William "Billy" Edward Reed. They lived in a few different states, Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, Ft. Harrison, IN, Fort Knox, KY, and Ft. Carson, CO before being stationed in Karlsruhe, Germany for 3 years and Heilbronn, Germany for 3 years. On November 18, 1977 Edward became a proud father again to his son Jason Lee Reed. Edward involved himself into scouting with his sons and wife with the Trans-Atlantic Council of Scouting. Besides being #1 dedicated soldier, Edward also prided himself with being an avid fisherman. He and his sons competed against each other in all sorts of things, such as bowling, skating, and fishing bass tournaments with the Indiana Bass Federation winning several tournaments. He and and the boys also went to the Bass Master Classics getting time and autographs from greats like Jimmy Houston, Bill Dance, and Roland Martin. Edward retired from the United States Army as an E-7 with 22 and 1/2 years of service. After retiring from the military he worked for Tractor Supply Company for 10 years and began moving furniture where he gained respect as a mover all across the country. In September 2020, Edward realized he needed to temporarily move to Huntington, WV and become a part of the Life House Recovery Program. He totally surrendered his life to Christ and became a New Creation. He loved sharing his faith with everyone.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Anna Mari Brandt; grandmothers, Mary J. Miller and Grandma Terry; and granddaughter, Kimberly "Faith" Reed.
He is survived by his sons; brother, Marvin Lee Reed (Debra) of Lebanon, IN; and was a grandfather "Pops" to 8 grandchildren, Jake Reed (Kylie), Courtney Burke (Alex), Chloe Reed, Skylar Reed, Grace Reed, Dylan Reed, and Jonathan Reed; and 2 great grandsons, Chanceler Burke and Stephen Burke.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Family Funeral Care-Rockville West, 5791 Rockville Rd, Indianapolis, Indiana 46224. His Funeral Service will be Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Lincoln Memory Gardens, Whitestown, Indiana.
