

Edward (Ed) was born to Edward A. and Minnie R. (Granger) Traugott on May 6, 1959, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He attended Pike High School and graduated from West Central Joint Services. Following graduation, he worked 39 years for Crossroads Industrial Services, retiring in December of 2017. Ed also volunteered at GiGi’s Playhouse, a Down Syndrome Achievement Center, and was nominated for their Volunteer of the Year award in 2017.
Ed, affectionately known as Eddie, loved life, his family, and his friends. He always had a smile to share with anyone he met, and he found joy in daily living. Ed was an avid square dancer, bowler (Trailblazers), and ice cream enthusiast. For decades, he frequented events with the Hollis Adams organization, attended dancing activities at Hilltop School, and was a regular at local monthly social gatherings.
Ed was preceded in death by his father Edward A. Traugott, grandparents George and Flossie Dice Granger, grandmother Olga Newman Traugott, and many beloved aunts, uncles, and extended family members.
Ed is survived by his mother Minnie Granger Traugott, his sister Tracey Traugott Hensel, nephew John Edward Hensel, his wife Kimberly, and their daughter Ellie Joan Hensel, and niece Katherine Nicole Hensel and her fiancé Gabriel Baker.
Visitation will be Monday, August 8, from 10:30-11 a.m. at Crown Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery located at 700 West 38th Street, Indianapolis. Funeral services will immediately follow starting at 11 a.m., with Rick Adkins of Life’s Journey of Avon officiating. Afterward, there will be a reception in the Celebration Hall.
Memorials in Ed’s name may be given to Hollis Adams, a local non-profit that has served adults with developmental disabilities for over 50 years by providing social, recreational, and community-based opportunities through a wide variety of events and activities.
