

94, died in Greenfield, IN on December 25, 2011. Eloise was born on September 13, 1917 in Indianapolis at St. Vincent’s Hospital. Her parents were the late Jeanette Miranda (Hawkens) and William Charles Hamant. Eloise graduated from Cathedral Grade School in 1932 and from St. Agnes Academy in 1936. Because of her petite size, she modeled size four shoes at the Marott Hotel in downtown Indianapolis. At the age of seventeen, Eloise began dating the love of her life, Raymond John Schnorr, Sr. while a student at St. Agnes. When Raymond went to The University of Notre Dame, Eloise acquired a job at Indiana Bell Telephone Company in Indianapolis from 1936 to 1940. Eloise and Raymond were married on May 25, 1940, at Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Indianapolis.
Eloise and Raymond were rooted in their love family, the church, close friends, and Indianapolis.
While raising five children, Eloise was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Indianapolis and, from 1959 to the present, a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Indianapolis. She was a room mother at Immaculate Heart, was in the Altar Society, the Guardian Angel Guild in Indianapolis. While her sons attended Cathedral High School, she belonged to the Cathedral Mother's Club.
Eloise was proud of the fact that she was a Daughter of the American Revolution, traced to seventh generation ancestor, Henry Francisco, from Whitehall, New York.
Both Eloise and Raymond had many high school and Notre Dame friends who remained close through the years. They attended Notre Dame games with friends, and had gatherings with their high school friends for many years.
After 65 years of marriage, in November 2005, Eloise and Raymond attended the Archdiocese Mass at the Cathedral for married couples who have been married 50 years or longer. hey received a gift from Archbishop Daniel Buechlein and were honored as one of the couples married the longest.
Eloise and Raymond were married for 67 years before his death on December 24, 2007. During Eloise and Ray’s years together, they always put their families and children first. Their loving children are: William Vincent (Barbara) of Cicero, Janet Camille (Michael) Tosick of Greenfield, Mary Ann (John) Evans of Greenwood, Raymond John, Jr., of San Diego, CA, and Matthew Alan of Indianapolis.
As grandparents, Eloise and Ray loved to host Christmas and Easter family parties in their home and yard on North New Jersey Street in Indianapolis.
Their loving grandchildren are Debra Leisure, Kathie (Joel) Rickard, John (Robyn) Tosick, Anna Tosick, Michael (Sarah) Tosick, Laurie (Paul) Clodfelter, Matthew (Raegan) Evans, Mark (Deidre) Evans, Kelly Schnorr, Julie (Brendan) Summers, Robert Raymond and Demi Marie Schnorr. Her great-grandchildren number 13 and one deceased. She is also survived by her loving niece, Joyce Alber Rebh.
Eloise was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Albers and brother, Retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Vincent (Barbara) Hamant.
May Eloise’s sense of humor, beauty and love of life as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother never be forgotten.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 5692 Central Ave. in Indianapolis on Friday, December 30th, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, December 29th, at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary, Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Providence at St. Mary of the Woods, IN.
