Eric was born on October 27, 1968 to Jerry and Jean Fromholz, in Indianapolis, IN. He grew up in Indy with his sister, cousins, and neighborhood friends. He attended Fall Creek Elementary, Eastwood Junior High, and he graduated from North Central High School in 1987. He went on to study at IUPUI, where he graduated with his degree in Business in 1991.
Eric married his son’s mother, and on a beautiful day in August 1995, his first son, Hunter Augustus was born, just three years later in September 1998 Spenser Allen enthusiastically entered this world.
Eric’s boys were his top priority. He was a stay-at-home dad and homeschooled his sons for the better part of their formative years. He was a great dad and a dedicated teacher. After that he researched and found the best schools in the state of Indiana for them to attend.
Friends describe Eric as a loyal friend. Family remembers him as a smart, gentle, and kind man like his father. He had a funny sense of humor and always came up with silly quips like “what’s up chickenbutt”, and he held competitive thumb wars with his boys.
Eric enjoyed teaching his boys, reading books, and watching sports; especially the Colt’s, IU Basketball, Indiana Pacers and the Chicago Blackhawks. He enjoyed listening to books, the Bible, classic rock, and a wide range of tunes on audio. In recent years, he loved sending Instagram reels, funny memes, favorite movies and music to all his family and friends.
Eric called to check on and encourage his mom almost every day. They had a sweet friendship. He was beyond persistent when he wanted something. He was strong and resilient and came through the greatest of adversity. He had a big heart and was funny. He loved his friends and family so much, and he talked non-stop about his love, hopes, dreams, and desires for his boys. We are so grateful he is in peace now and his body is whole. Our great loss is certainly Heaven’s gain.
Eric is survived and missed by his children: Hunter and Spenser, his mother: Jean Fromholz, his sister: Gina Fromholz Granville, his three nephews and niece: Matthew Granville (wife Bridget and son Finn), Laura Granville Odom (husband Jacob), Samuel Granville and Daniel Granville, and his friend and the mother of his children, Stacy Soncrant.
Eric is also survived and missed dearly by his cousins, Benji Brown (Debbie), Tony Brown (Pam), Angie May, Christy May, Juli Windsor (Jack), Uncle Barrie and numerous other cousins, second cousins, uncles and aunts.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Fromholz.
Please join our family for a Celebration of Life service, in remembrance of Eric, on Saturday, March 18 at 11am, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 6341 Mann Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46221.
