

Peggy Lowe Brown was born September 4th, 1939 in Gallatin, TN to William Lowe, Sr and Ellen G. Woodson Lowe. She was the beloved sister to Marylouis Lowe, Emma Jean Crain, William Lowe, jr, and Gary Lowe. She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Marylouis, Emma Jean, and her brother William Lowe, jr.
Peggy began her spiritual journey at Allen Chapel AME church. She later converted to Catholicism and was married to the late George Brown at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in 1963, this union were born two children: Timothy W. Brown and Maria L. Brown Richardson.
Peggy began her early education at Indianapolis Public School No. 26 and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School.
Peggy was employed in various careers beginning with the Indianapolis Public Library, RCA, National Aluminum Company. She later in life earned her BSN degree from the University of Indianapolis and worked and retired as an RN from St. Augustine little Sisters of the Poor and the Indiana Women’s Prison.
Peggy was an avid reader. She loved crossword puzzles, Computers and Facebook, Crocheting, traveling, family trips, spending time with family especially her younger sister Emma Jean. She loved her family dearly and helped without hesitation for who needed it.
Peggy departed this life on March 30th, 2026 at the age of 86. She leaves to cherish her memory, Son: Timothy W. Brown, Daughter: Maria L. Brown Richardson. Grandchildren: Jennifer Richardson, Timothy “TJ” Brown, jr, Jeffrey (Richardson) Vanderheuvel, Jasmine Gordon (deceased), NeShaun Gordon, and Alexis Brown. Great grandchildren: Kaylee and Keegan Richardson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, Memorial Chapel, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, on April 16, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
A Celebration of Life will take place at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, Memorial Chapel, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, on April 16, 2026, beginning at 12:00 pm.
