

78, of Indianapolis departed this life Wednesday, October 10, 2012. He was born January 24, 1934 in Indianapolis to Louis F. and Catherine M. (Hagan) Meier, who preceded him in death. Frank was a graduate of Cathedral High School and Butler University. Frank worked his entire life as an independent life insurance agent. He was a 48 year member of Nativity Catholic Church where he served on the Parish Council. Frank lived his life with a great love of family, friends and the outdoors. He was a founding member of the Civic League, serving as president from 1977-1978, he also belonged to Lion’s Club International. Frank earned the John Basco Award in 1987 and the Msgr. Albert Busald Service Award in 1976. His passion for sports drove him to becoming one of the founders of Nativity CYO football. He coached football, basketball and baseball for many years at CYO while also instilling a foundation of faith, family and sportsmanship. Frank also coach Franklin Township Little League for many years. He additionally enjoyed officiating football and basketball as an IHSAA referee for many years. Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Gertrude Wilberding Meier; infant daughter, Clare Marie Meier and brother, Dick Meier. He is survived by his loving children, Lou (Sherry), David (Donna), Ann (Dennis) Weatherford, Matt, and Maureen (Matt) Hutt; devoted grandchildren, Clarissa (Matt) , Frankie, Abby, Andy, Laura, Colleen, Alex, Madeline, Claire, Nicholas, Caroline and Ethan; sister, Dolores Riddle; brother, Ken (Lynn) Meier and sister-in-law, Cottie Meier. Visitation will be from 1 – 4 PM on Sunday, October 14th in Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, October 15th at 11:00 AM in Nativity Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or to the Mary Meier Family Assistance Fund or to Nativity Catholic Church.
