He was born on May 9th, 1964 in Greenfield, Indiana to Freddie Wilson & Bobbie (Orrand) Bates.
Fred is preceded in death by his father, Freddie and 3 brothers, Gary Bates, Doyle Bates, and Timmy Bates.
Fred leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 34 years, Peggy Bates (Indianapolis), daughters Alisha Bates (Columbia, Ky), & Jody Bates (Abilene, TX), stepdaughter Terri Gilfillen (Ft. Wayne, IN), son Freddie Bates Jr. (Indianapolis), mother Bobbie Bates (Greenfield, IN), and two brothers Terry (Ann) Bates (Greenfield, IN), and Philip (Becky) Bates (Fountaintown, IN). He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation for Fred will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208. Immediately following the visitation, Fred will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery.
