

Born on August 20, 1937, in Indianapolis to Robert Cobb and Ruth V. (King) Cobb, Gail was funny and a huge supporter of her friends. A proud graduate of Crispus Attucks High School’s Class of 1955, Gail’s love for her alma mater shone brightly throughout her life. She cherished her role in organizing class reunions, always ensuring they were memorable celebrations of lifelong friendships.
Gail married Larry W. Reed, and to this union three children were born. Derrick Wayne, Dana Rene, and Nichole (Nikki) Ruth.
Gail’s professional life was marked by dedication and camaraderie. She worked for various entities within the State government, including as a valued member of former Secretary of State Larry Conrad’s team. Gail’s time with the State Election Board brought her lasting friendships, including a special bond with Patty Broderick. She had the honor of meeting notable figures, such as President Jimmy Carter. Her career culminated with the Department of Workforce Development, from which she retired. Gail also worked as a hair model for Summit Laboratories.
Gail loved to dance, loved to shop, loved to travel and was a member of many social clubs. Her favorite was The Guess Who, known for its legendary New Year’s Eve celebrations, complete with a hotel stay and the traditional good luck food buffet on New Year’s Day. She also loved sports! She passionately supported her favorite teams: the Crispus Attucks Tigers, the Indiana Pacers, and most especially, The Fever.
Gail was a devoted member of Light of the World Christian Church from 1980 until her passing. When her illness tested her faith, her unwavering belief in God provided strength and comfort.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved sister Peggy Mason, her cherished children Derrick and Nikki, and two dear friends who were like family: Esther Bowman and Margaret Gentry.
Gail’s legacy lives on through her daughter Dana (Richard), her grandchildren Damon, Devin, and Drake, and her great-grandchildren Kaleb, Kaia, DeJae, RaeLynn, and Zen. She is also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Gail had the most wonderful caregivers: Tiffany, Gloria, Carol, Sandra, Marva, Tamia…And the ones that provided sweet, loving, excellent care during her final days: Amy, Cynthia, Jamie, and Tamika. Also, Naplio for making Mommy smile. The family will always remain profoundly grateful to all of you.
The family also wants to thank Paradigm Health and two special individuals from Anchor Home Hospice for their care and compassion: Kudzai Mugadza and Kayla Malone.
Gail’s radiant smile, boundless love, and generous spirit will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her light continues to shine in the hearts of those she touched.
A visitation for Gaildeane will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Light of The World Christian Church, 4646 N Michigan Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46228, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM.
