

Gary Collins of Indianapolis entered the eternal kingdom on August 28,2011. He was born in Batesville, Arkansas on July 4, 1946 to Foster and Naomi Collins. He is a 1964 graduate of Indianapolis Arsenal Technical High School and a 1988 graduate of Marian College.
Gary served his country bravely in the US Army from 1966 to 1973 including 2 years 5 months in Viet Nam. He was wounded in combat and earned numerous military honors including Bronze Star Medal (5 awards), Army Commendation Medal (2 awards), Purple Heart, Viet Nam Campaign Medal (9 Battle Stars), Parachutist Wings, and Ranger Tab. He was the commanding officer of Third Brigade, Co B, 1st Bn and completed his service with the rank of Captain.
After his service to his country ended, he was a long time employee of CMW Metals where he made many friends. He was a life member of VFW post 2999 in Indianapolis. He is survived by his sister Evelyn Minatel, his niece Pam Sheward, his nephew Jim Minatel, and is also loved by their children Karen and Kevin Sheward and Dominic and Carly Minatel.
Services will be held on Wednesday September 7, 2011 at 4:00 P.M. with calling from 2:30 P.M. at the Crown Hill Remembrance Hall Chapel. Interment: Crown Hill Cemetery. Arrangements: Crown Hill Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent at www.crownhill.org.
