George Albert Taylor, Son of George, and Jo Ann Taylor was born on 7 March 1956, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the eighth child of a twelve-family circle.
George departed this life on 23 January 2022 in Indianapolis, Indiana. George is survived by his mother JoAnn Johnson, his sisters, Myrtle Lynch, Carrie Evans (Jim), Dora Price, Sylvia Johnson, (Keith), Andrea Armstrong, Veattia Johnson (David), Clyneese Berry, Kate Venable, and his brother George K. He was proceeded in death by his father George, sister Cynthia Clayton and brother Evan. He is a role model to a multitude of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1975 before enlisting in the United States Army. While in the Army, he completed a Master’s degree in Human resources from Strayer University. He rose quickly through the ranks to the highest enlisted rank of Sergeant Major. While on active-duty George held many positions.
He was a Record Information System Specialist, Army Recruiter and Career Counselor. His most notable positions were Recruiter and Career Counselor, where he impacted the lives Soldiers and families with keen eye for talent and unmatched wisdom and mentorship.
He Retired after 30 years of active-duty service in 2004. He continued his government service working at the pentagon and for National Security Agency for an additional 18 years.
During his military career he attended several courses and trainings: including the Turkish Language Course for Senior Leaders, Army Recruiting Course, Army Career Counselor Course and all Army Leadership Courses including the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy.
George also was awarded numerous awards: Legion Of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal(7thAward)Army Commendation Medal(7th Award), Army Achievement Medal(2nd Award), Army Good Conduct Medal(7th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star(BSS), Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Noncommissioned Officer’s Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 4, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon(4thAward), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia) and the Kuwait Liberation Medal(Kuwait). His most honored achievement was being selected U.S. Army Recruiter of The Year.
George was a member of the Thomas A Sims Lodge 170 of Freemasons, he also had memberships or affiliations with the Association of Military Recruiters and Career Counselors (AMRAC) where he was inducted into their hall of fame. He also held memberships in many other organizations.
