Gerald "Roscoe" Floyd. Gerald was born on July 22, 1947 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Solomon and Pinkie Floyd.Gerald Floyd received his education from Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama. Immediately after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served over 2 years. On December 19, 1965, Gerald was united in Holy Matrimony to Catheryn Martin where 2 children were born of this union (Portia and LaJuan).Gerald was a radio personality in the late 60's, 70's and 80's and went by the name, "The Mighty Roscoe." His radio career started in 1968 where he worked for numerous stations in different states; (WBOK New Orleans, WENN Birmingham, WLOK Memphis, WDIA Memphis, WOKB Orlando, WBUL Birmingham, 98.7 Birmingham). He also worked as regional promoter with Polydor Records New York), (TEC Records Philly), (20th Century Los Angeles). Gerald had a passion for music which lead him to write for numerous groups. He produced groups such as "The Famous Duncan Sisters with HI Records in Memphis." and managed Fred Spraggins and "The Human Factor."On January 27, 1979, Gerald was united in Holy Matrimony to Charlene Brady where 2 children were born of this union (Jahmaal and Jermain). This union lasted over 30 years.Gerald moved to Indianapolis, IN in February 2014. He departed this life on Friday October 30, 2015 at approximately 11:10 a.m. at the age of Sixty-Eight years, 3 months and 8 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pinkie and Solomon Floyd; (2) Sisters, Beverly Floyd and Carolyn Swain.Gerald leaves to cherish his memory: His wife and best friend of over 30 years, Charlene Floyd; children: Jahmaal Floyd, Sr., Jermain Floyd, Sr. (Nikida Sellers), Portia Mason (Vincent), Lajuan Brown; sisters: Beverly Floyd and Carolyn Swain; grandchildren: Tori Mason, Vashni Ray, Jahmaal Floyd, Jr., Vincent Mason, Jr., Robert Jordan, Jr., Miles Jordan, Nadia Sellers, Jermain Floyd, Jr., Miracle Floyd, Jahmese Floyd, Shawn Brown, Shawnicee Brown, Jaylen Malone, Jahreal Floyd, Aaniya Mayfield and Breauna Mitchell; 5 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.His Inurnment will take place on Friday, November 20, 2015 at 2pm in Marion National Cemetery.
