She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Michael Brown, sister Lavern Ward, and daughter Julie Brown Owens.
Glenna and her family moved to Indianapolis in the early nineteen fifties, where they settled into the historic Lockefield Gardens area. At an early age Glenna professed her love for Christ and was baptized at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church. She continued to have a personal relationship with Christ throughout the passing years. She was educated in the Indianapolis Public School system. She received her high school diploma from Crispus Attucks High School. After high school, she went on to marry the love of her life Michael Brown. Through their 60 year union they produced 4 amazing children.
Glenna enjoyed her life of being a Domestic Engineer for many years. Once the children were older, she began her career as an Executive Administrator at Trinity C.M.E. Church serving for over 15 years. Before living “the life of Riley” as she so often called it, she worked as a Senior Citizens Activity Coordinator for CICOA.
Glenna was very family oriented and she loved her children and grandchildren. She will always be remembered for yelling REMIX as we transitioned to singing the Stevie Wonder version of happy birthday. She loved to travel and eat her sweets. She was an excellent cook often preparing a special dish for “certain someones” on their special day, in which you better not touch. She always had words of wisdom to give to anyone. Because of the abundance of love she shared, people affectionately called her Grammy no matter the relationship. She was something special to everyone. To Tim Sr. she was his angel. To Erik Sr. she was his sunshine. To Michael she was his heart. Her beautiful smile, warm hugs, and her infectious laughter will truly be missed.
Glenna departed this earthly life on Sunday December 17, 2023 at 10:36 p.m. at the age of 83 years 9 months and 10 days.
Glenna Mae Hampton Brown leaves to cherish her precious memory sons Michael Brown, Erik Brown Sr. (Sabrina), Timothy Brown Sr. (Emma), son in law Marcus Owens, brother in law James Brown; 13 grandchildren TiMia, Timothy Jr., Monique, Blake, Kendall, Maria, Tyrin (Sasha), Chris, Erik Jr., Brandon, Landon and Lillie; 5 great grandchildren Anyah, Caden, Kai, Kali and Karsyn and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
