Herman was born in Nuremberg, Germany to Wilhelm Heining and Kuniguanda Siber-Heining on July 11th, 1940. He went to school in Nuremberg, Germany.
In the year of 1959 Herman came to America and brought with him his skill of an operating machinist and then joined the Indianapolis Police Dept at at the age of 30 in the year of 1970. Herman retired as a Detective from IPD in the year of 1991. Herman married the love of his life Micky Rollings-Heining on July 5th, 1980.
Herman is preceded in death by his mother and father and his two sisters, Hedwig and Elsie, his two brothers Otto and Adolf, and his two nephews, Steve and Bert.
Herman is survived by his loving wife, Micky, nieces and nephews, in-laws, and a wide variety of friends that he considered his Brothers. He loved a good hand of cards, a well-cooked meal (especially if he made it himself), and the thrill of a little gamble now and then. Time with family meant the world to him—though he might’ve said he preferred the company of his cat, Romeo, mostly because Romeo let him win all the arguments. He was deeply loved—by family, friends, and anyone lucky enough to have known him. His humor, warmth, and unforgettable presence will be missed more than words can say.
A visitation for Herman will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN 46208. He will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery following the visitation.
