Isabel Salas Guerra

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Isabel S. Guerra (Chavela, Chavelita), who entered eternal rest on October 22, 2025. Isabel was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She lived most of her life in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she built a home filled with love, laughter, and the aroma of her cooking.

Isabel was the devoted wife of Gilbert Guerra Sr., and together they raised a beautiful family. She is survived by her children Sandra Lopez Arredondo (Francisco Lopez Arredondo), Gilbert Guerra Jr. (Adelaida Q. Guerra), David Guerra (Tiffany Thompson), Blanca G. Ochoa (Cruz Ochoa), and Isabel Castro (Gregorio Castro).

She was preceded in death by her beloved children Lionel Guerra (Brandy M. Guerra) and Miranda Guerra.

She is also remembered with love by her many grandchildren (over 22), great-grandchildren, and great great grandchildren each of whom she cherished deeply.

She is survived by her siblings Rafael Salas, Orfalinda Gonzales, and MaElena Salas, and preceded in death by her siblings Enedelia Zambrana, Irma Ochoa, and Daniel Salas.

For many years, Isabel worked diligently at IUPUI in housekeeping while also being a dedicated homemaker. She was the heart of her family — strong, funny, firm, outspoken, caring, and above all, generous. Isabel was known for her resilience, honesty, and sharp sense of humor.

She enjoyed bingo, dancing, and especially gardening. Even when her husband would lovingly tell her not to go outside to pull weeds—worried she might fall—she couldn’t resist sneaking out to tend to her plants when no one was around. It was her quiet act of care and determination, one that reflected her independent spirit and love for nurturing life in every form.

Her vibrant personality and loving spirit will continue to inspire everyone who knew her. Her legacy of love, strength, and laughter will live on through her family and all whose lives she touched.

Visitation and Services will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, located at 1307 North Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46219.

Con mucho dolor en nuestros corazones, anunciamos el fallecimiento de Isabel S. Guerra (Chavela, Chavelita), quien partió a descansar en paz el 22 de octubre de 2025. Isabel fue una esposa, madre, abuela, hermana y amiga muy querida. Vivió la mayor parte de su vida en Indianápolis, Indiana, donde creó un hogar lleno de amor, risas y el aroma de su cocina.

Fue la esposa devota de Gilbert Guerra Sr., y juntos formaron una hermosa familia. Le sobreviven sus hijos Sandra Lopez Arredondo (Francisco Lopez Arredondo),Gilbert Guerra Jr.(Adelaida Q. Guerra), David Guerra(Tiffany Thompson), Blanca G.Ochoa(Cruz Ochoa) e Isabel Castro (Gregorio Castro).

Le precedieron en la muerte sus amados hijos Lionel Guerra (Brandy M. Guerra) y Miranda Guerra.

También le sobreviven sus más de 22 nietos y numerosos bisnietos, a quienes amó profundamente.

Le sobreviven sus hermanos Rafael Salas, Orfalinda Gonzales y MaElena Salas, y le precedieron en la muerte sus hermanos Enedelia Zambrana, Irma Ochoa y Daniel Salas.

Durante muchos años, Isabel trabajó incansablemente en IUPUI en el departamento de limpieza, además de ser una ama de casa dedicada. Era el corazón de su familia — fuerte, divertida, firme, directa, cariñosa y generosa. Isabel era conocida por su fortaleza, sinceridad y sentido del humor.

Le encantaba jugar bingo, bailar y, sobre todo, cuidar su jardín. Aunque su esposo le decía con cariño que no saliera a cortar la hierba —por miedo a que se cayera— ella no podía resistirse. Cuando nadie la veía, salía a escondidas a cuidar sus plantas. Era su manera tierna y decidida de seguir haciendo lo que amaba, reflejando su espíritu independiente y su amor por la vida.

Su espíritu alegre y su amor eterno permanecerán vivos en todos los que tuvieron la dicha de conocerla. Su legado de amor, fuerza y alegría vivirá por siempre en su familia y en todos los que la amaron.

El velorio y los servicios funerarios se llevarán a cabo el miércoles, 29 de octubre de 2025, de 4:00 PM a 8:00 PM en Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, ubicado en 1307 North Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46219.

Familiares y amigos están invitados a reunirse para compartir recuerdos y celebrar su hermosa vida.
