Jacqueline M. Bunch

Jackie as called by most, attended Public School #56 and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1952. She also took various classes at Indiana Business College and earned her Master of Cosmetologist degree at the renowned Madam C.J. Walker Beauty College in 1958.

Jackie was united in Holy Matrimony to Benjamin H. F. Bunch Jr. on November 20, 1954. To this union two sons were born, David A. and Darryl L.

Jackie was employed at the U.S. Army Finance and Account Center in Indianapolis, IN for 42 years. She had several positions before retiring as an accounting technician. While employed at the Finance and Account Center, she worked as a hair stylist for many years providing her services to constituents at the salon in the neighborhood and kept her family members styled with the latest hairdos. In her spare time, she also like to knit, crochet, play bingo, visit casinos, and travel. Despite her cancer diagnosis and treatments, she survived cancer for over 30 years!

After accepting Christ in her life, she was baptized on October 9, 1960 at Immanuel Presbyterian Church by Reverend Abram Johnson. Jackie actively served her church: she taught Sunday School, Women’s Association member, and worked tirelessly for 20+ years on the Usher Board, Finance Committee, and co-chaired the Annual Nut Fundraiser.

Jackie was preceded in death by her husband after 52 years of marriage; three brothers Michael O., Richard F., and Ronald R. Waters; two sisters, Kathleen E. Waters and Sandra R. Brown; grandson, Darryl L. Bunch Jr; and great grandson, Diego L. Bunch

She departed this earthly life on May 9, 2025 at the age ninety-one.

Jackie leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, David (Sharon) and Darryl; a chosen and dedicated daughter, Patricia Gaither; one grandson, David Jr., one granddaughter, Dr. Brandy Simmons (Dante’); three chosen granddaughters, Cierra, Pontavia, and Pa-Onia Gaither; three great grandchildren, Amar’e Bunch, Donovan Simmons, and Journee Bunch; one brother, Stephen L. Waters of Carpentersville, IL; three sisters, Deborah V. Martin of Los Angeles, CA, Linda L. Morris, and Andrea D. Walker (Virgil); and other relatives and friends.

A visitation for Jackie will be held Friday, May 23, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN 46208, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM.
