

James attended IPS Emanuel Hall School #52 and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1971. Following high school he studied in France as part of a Journeyman program as an apprentice. James later graduated from Ivy Tech Community College receiving an Associate's degree in Electrical Technology and became a licensed electrician and later became a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).
James professed his faith in Christ, at an early age and was baptized at Caldwell AME Zion Church. While attending Caldwell, James served in several ministries such as Sunday School Teacher, Trustee, and choir member. James was blessed with a beautiful baritone singing voice, and would frequently sing solos in church choirs. James was a faithful member of Caldwell AME Zion church for over fifty years. At the time of his transition, he was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, where he served in the choir and Men’s Ministry.
James was united in holy matrimony to Adalean Robinson on June 12, 1982. For thirty-six years nothing gave him more pleasure than spending quality time with her on vacations as well as having family get togethers at their home. James was a devoted husband and father to his four sons.
James held several positions throughout the years as an maintenance technician. He also explored entrepreneurship with his company, DAJAMA, which dealt with property investments. He has also worked for American Cablevision, The Indianapolis Housing Agency (IHA),and most recently CBRE until his passing.
James enjoyed traveling with his wife and family,watching movies at theaters, going camping, and most of all attending church and worshipping the Lord. James was blessed with many talents, such as a certified electrician and heating and ventilating specialist. He was always willing to use his craft and knowledge to help any one in need.
James had a spiritual gift of uplifting and encouraging people whenever he could. He would look at every situation whether it was good or bad with a graceful spirit.
James departed from this earthly life on Christmas Day December 25, 2018 at the age of 65 years old. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Pearl Jeter, his sister, Fonda Barron, and his nephew, Brandon Barron. He leaves to cherish his wife, Adalean Jeter, sister Linda (Tony) Edwards, four sons, Aburey Jeter, Delbert Mimms Jr, Ryan (Vanessa )Jeter, and Devin (Neil) Jeter, eight grandchildren, Sariel, Eighbry, Delbert III, Reylin, Micha, Allen, Tehya, and Moriah and a hosts of nephews, nieces,cousins, and friends and loved ones.
