

James E. Myers, Sr. passed away peacefully on June 13, 2011, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born to William and Mary Myers on September 6, 1948, in Indianapolis, IN. For the past 15 years, Jim has resided in Staunton, VA where he worked as the Warranty Administrator for McQuay International. During his life, Jim worked for the Kroger Company in Indianapolis, IN, and he also operated his own construction company, J.E. Myers, Inc. Jim graduated from Cathedral High School in 1966, and then served honorably in the U.S. Army in Vietnam between 1968-1969. While in combat, he earned among other awards and accolades, a Sharpshooter Badge, a Vietnam Cross of Gallantry (with Palm), which was awarded to his unit for accomplished deeds of valor or displayed heroic conduct while fighting an enemy force, two Purple Hearts, and a Bronze Star Medal. Following service to his country, he attended Indiana Central University in Indianapolis. Jim was a devoted son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his dedicated and loving wife of 28 years, Ann Bowman Myers, his two sons, James E. (Kristi) Myers and John T. (Jennifer) Myers and mother, Mary Myers. Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny and his father William. He is also survived by nine brothers and sisters: Cathy (Larry) Dea; Norine Myers; Bill (Pam) Myers; Paul (Therese) Myers; Mike (Judy) Myers; Mary Myers; Patty (Mike) Perry; Sharon (Jim) Ulander; and Dan Myers. Jim counted his grandchildren as one of the greatest blessings of his life: Alex, Isaac, Hallie and Mackenzie Myers; Krystal and Matthew White and Karissa Myers. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 PM Wednesday, June 15th in Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, June 16th at 10:00 AM in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 550 North Rural Street Indianapolis, IN 46201. In lieu of flowers, Jim’s family requests donations to Prostate Cancer Foundation (www.pcf.com) or to Holy Spirit CYO Football (7243 E. 10th St., Indianapolis, IN 46219).
