

age of 95.
James was born November 19, 1926 in Germantown, Tennessee to Mr. and
Mrs. Tom Sullivan.
After attending the Tennessee Public School System, he met and married Ola
Mae Hamilton. Their union produced four beautiful children.
James Sullivan was drafted into the United States Army and served his country
with honor and dignity during the close of World War II. After the war, James worked for
Milan Armory in Milan, Tennessee where he retired after 30 years of employment.
After becoming a widower due to the death of his wife Ola Mae Sullivan, James
married Ruth Graham of Trenton, Tennessee.
James accepted Christ in 1987 and faithfully served as a Deacon at his home
church for many years.
James was loved by all. He was known to be hardworking, honest and fair minded
who maintained dignity and integrity throughout his life. He was affectionately
called “PawPaw” by his grandchildren, great grandchildren and other children in his
neighborhood.
James leaves to cherish his memory 4 children- James Sullivan Jr. and Kenneth
Sullivan Sr.(Joyce) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Charles Sullivan of Syracuse, New York,
Dianne Sullivan of Nashville, Tennessee, 8 grandchildren,16 great grandchildren, bonus
daughters Varetta Hurt of Paducah, Kentucky and Carol White of Memphis, Tennessee,
9 bonus grandchildren, 6 bonus great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
James was preceded in death by his wife Ola Mae Sullivan in 1994, and his
second wife Ruth Sullivan in 2021, brothers William Charles Sullivan, Ahar “Dick”
Sullivan, John Frank “Doe” Sullivan, Wardell and Thomas Sullivan (Twins), Bobby
Sullivan and sister Cinderella Sullivan-Coleman.
The family of Mr. James Sullivan will be present Saturday, January 29, 2022, to receive friends for visitation from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, at New Direction Christian Church, 5330 E. 38th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana.
Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery, 700 W. 38th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana.
