Jinny Beth O'Dell

passed away on June 1, 2014. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Harold G. (Hal) O’Dell, daughters Lara B. O’Dell of Indianapolis, IN and Elizabeth (Beth) A. (Kyle) Quinn of Lakewood, CO; four (4) grandchildren: Colin A. O’Dell, Devon E. Quinn, Isabella M. Quinn and Brooklyn K. Quinn, who affectionately called her “Nana,” and her aunts and cousins. Jinny was born in Indianapolis, IN and was preceded in death by her parents Bruce B. Atkinson and Doris M. (McDonald) Atkinson and son Michael B. O’Dell. She grew up in Speedway, IN in St. Christopher Parish before moving to the east side and St. Andrew Parish. She graduated from Scecina Memorial High School and received a B.S. degree from Butler University. Jinny resided in Indianapolis until her retirement, when Hal and she moved to Longwood, FL, a suburb of Orlando.

In addition to her family, Jinny loved all sports both as a participant and a spectator. She also loved the law, spending many years as a legal secretary for various area law firms. She was an avid fan of I.U. basketball, tennis, fishing, bird watching, Disney World, and in recent years, golf. She was outgoing and loved by everyone she met, who found that she was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. Her loving smile, zest for life, and generous spirit will be missed but never forgotten.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 4100 E. 56th Street, Indianapolis, at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 9, 2014 with graveside service to immediately follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Feeney Hornak Keystone Mortuary on Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with rosary to begin at 4:30 p.m.
