She was a 1949 graduate of Cony High School in Augusta, Maine. Joan attended Boston University and graduated from Butler with a Bachelor of Arts. Joan was a retiree of Indiana Insurance Company.
As a breast cancer survivor, Joan participated in numerous Susan G. Komen Races for the Cure. She also enjoyed gardening, walking, shopping and lunch with friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin E. Paulin. Survivors include her sister Jane s. Harvey of Hallowell, MA, two cousins, four nieces and two nephews. In addition, Joan had step daughter Pat Ellis, step son Kent Paulin, and three step grandsons.
